What made-to-measure curtains are
Made-to-measure curtains are sewn to the exact width and drop of your track or window, in the fabric, lining and heading you choose, instead of being bought in fixed shop sizes. In Singapore they are usually measured at your home after renovation, made in a workroom and installed on a track or rod.
Standard curtain sizes can leave gaps or stop short of the floor. With made-to-measure curtains, you choose the length and fabric for your windows. We can help you work out where the curtains should sit and how much space they need when open.

Made-to-measure curtain prices
We price custom curtains per metre of track width, installed, for drops up to about 260cm. The fabric type sets the rate, and a very small window carries a minimum of about $100 to $130 per curtain.
As a guide, a 2.4m bedroom window in blackout costs about $180 to $240. A 3.5m living room window with day and night layers costs about $385 to $490, plus a double track if the old one is bent, too short or in the wrong place.

Choosing a heading
The heading is how the top of the curtain is sewn and hung. It changes how the folds look, how far the curtain stacks back when open, and which track or rod it needs. Pick the heading before the track, as some tracks only take certain hooks or carriers.
Ripple fold and pinch pleat take more fabric per metre of track than eyelet or pencil pleat, so they affect the quote as well as the look. If you are unsure, the style quiz suggests headings and fabrics from a few questions about the room.
- Ripple foldEven, rolling waves on a ripple fold track. A clean look for condos and BTO living rooms.
- Pinch pleatTailored pleats on hooks. Suits heavier fabrics and more formal rooms.
- EyeletRings set into the fabric and threaded on a rod. Casual and easy to slide.
- Pencil pleatA gathered top on heading tape. Works on most standard tracks.

Fabrics that cope with Singapore humidity
Humid air, aircon and strong sun all affect fabric. Natural fibres crease more and can take up moisture, while synthetics keep their shape through the wet months. A lining adds weight, helps the curtain hang straight and protects the face fabric from sun.
We bring samples to your window, so you can see each one in your own light before you choose.
- LinenRelaxed and textured. Creases more, so suits rooms with good airflow.
- PolyesterHolds its shape, washes easily and comes in sheer to blackout weights.
- CottonSoft and matt. Best lined and kept away from damp walls.
- VelvetHeavy with a rich drape, for bedrooms and media rooms. Plan regular dusting.
- Dim-outA soft glow through the fabric, with privacy day and night.
- Thermal liningA layer behind the face fabric for west-facing windows.

Tracks, rods and motors
Most made-to-measure curtains in Singapore hang on a ceiling track, often inside a curtain box or false ceiling recess. A ceiling track lets the curtain start close to the ceiling, which makes the room look taller and leaves less gap at the top for light.
A single track carries one curtain. A double track carries a sheer and a night curtain, so you can use either layer on its own. New tracks cost $13 to $20 per metre for single and $26 to $40 per metre for double, installed.
A motor costs $290 to $450 per window. Plan a power point near the track during renovation, because adding one later means running wiring up to the ceiling.

Getting width and length right
Width: the track should run past the window frame on each side, so the curtain can stack off the glass when open. On a narrow wall beside a wardrobe or aircon unit, plan where the stack will sit before you choose a heading.
Fullness: we use more fabric than the track width so the curtain folds when closed. A curtain made flat to the track width looks stretched and lets light through between the folds.
Length: floor-length curtains usually finish just above the floor, so they stay clean when you mop. Sill-length suits windows above a bed, desk or kitchen counter. Curtains that pool on the floor look soft but trap dust and damp in a humid flat.
