How the numbers are worked out

Flat width is your track width multiplied by the heading's fullness. A pinch pleat usually needs a little over twice the track width so the pleats sit full; an eyelet on a rod needs less.
Fabric to buy depends on the roll. With a 280cm roll turned sideways, one length runs the full width if your drop plus hems fits inside 280cm. With a 140cm roll, the fabric is joined in widths, so we count how many drops you need and add about 30cm per drop for hems and heading.
Stack is the bundle of fabric when the curtains are open. It's a rough figure: thicker, lined fabric stacks wider. If you want the glass fully clear, the track needs to run past the frame by about this much.

Common questions
What is curtain fullness?
Fullness is how much wider the flat fabric is than the track it hangs on. A fullness of 2 means a 2m track takes 4m of flat fabric, which gives the folds their depth. Less fullness looks flatter and uses less fabric.
Should I measure the window or the track?
Measure the track, or where the track will go. Curtains are usually wider than the glass so they can stack clear of the window when open. If there is no track yet, add some width on each side of the frame for the stack.
Why does fabric width matter?
Many curtain fabrics come in 280cm wide rolls that can be turned sideways, so one length covers the whole width without seams as long as your drop fits within the roll width. Narrower fabric (around 140cm) is joined in widths, so you buy several drops instead.
Is this a quote?
No. It gives planning figures so you can compare options. Final width, fullness and fabric usage depend on the track, heading and fabric, and are confirmed when the window is measured.
