Bedroom curtains and blinds in Singapore
Bedroom curtains and blinds have two jobs. They keep morning sun off the bed and stop the block opposite from seeing in once the lights are on. We supply them made to measure for HDB flats, condos and landed homes, and they suit light sleepers, shift workers, parents of nappers and anyone with an east-facing window.
Get a quoteA dark bedroom depends on the fit
Blackout cloth stops light passing through the fabric, yet a bedroom can still be bright at six in the morning. Light escapes over the top of a rod, past the sides of a curtain that only just covers the frame, through the slit where two panels meet and under a hem that stops short.
For sleep, we usually fit a ceiling-mounted track or use the curtain box, take the track well past the window on both sides, add an overlap at the centre and bring the hem close to the floor. A curtain made wider than the opening tends to get the room darker than a blind sitting inside the recess, because it can cover the gaps around the glass.

Bedroom set-ups we fit often
Aircon, condensation and mould
Many Singapore bedrooms run the aircon overnight. The glass and frame cool down, and when the window opens in the morning, warm humid air meets them and moisture settles on the glass, the sill and the back of the curtain. That is why black spots so often appear on bedroom linings first.
Leave a small gap between the curtain and the glass, keep the hem off the sill and the floor, and open the curtains for a while after switching the aircon off. If the window gets regular condensation, a detachable blackout lining is easier to wash than a single coated fabric.

Choosing a heading and fabric
Before the measuring visit
Note which way the window faces and what time the sun reaches it. The sun glare checker gives a rough idea if you are not sure. Tell us where the bed sits, whether there is a curtain box or an existing track, and where the aircon unit blows. For a ballpark figure first, the online estimate tool covers curtains and blinds by window size.

Common questions
Should I choose curtains or blinds for a bedroom?
Curtains on a ceiling track usually get a bedroom darker because they can extend beyond the window. Blinds take less space beside a bed or wardrobe. Many bedrooms use both, with a blind behind and a curtain in front.
Will blackout curtains make the room completely dark?
Blackout fabric blocks light through the cloth, but some light still finds the edges. A ceiling track, wide side overlap and a hem close to the floor get the room as dark as the window allows. We do not promise total darkness.
Why do my bedroom curtains get black spots?
Usually condensation after a night of aircon, or a hem touching the sill or a freshly mopped floor. Airing the room in the morning and keeping the fabric off the glass both help.
Can I add a sheer to my existing bedroom curtain?
Often, if there is space for a second track. We check the curtain box depth and ceiling at the measuring visit and tell you whether a double track will fit.
