Blackout, dim-out or both?
Blackout fabric stops almost all light coming through the cloth. Dim-out cuts most light but lets a soft glow through. The quiz weighs the room, when you sleep, how sensitive you are to light and which way the window faces. Day sleepers and babies get a blackout roller blind plus blackout curtains, because light leaks round the edges of any single layer.

What is the difference between blackout and dim-out curtains?
Blackout curtains block almost all light through the fabric. Dim-out curtains cut most light and glare but let a soft glow through, so the room is darker without being pitch black.
Do blackout curtains make a room completely dark?
The fabric blocks light, but light can still leak at the top and sides. A ceiling track, extra width and a blind in the recess get a room as dark as possible.
Are dim-out curtains enough for a bedroom?
For people who sleep at night and like waking to daylight, yes. Light sleepers, day sleepers and babies usually need blackout.
Do blackout curtains keep heat out?
They cut some of the sun heat coming through east and west windows, because the fabric blocks direct sun. They do not replace air-conditioning.
