Dim-out roller blinds in Singapore
A dim-out roller blind uses a dense, opaque fabric that darkens a room and gives full privacy, without the coated backing of a blackout blind. A little light still glows through the fabric, so the room feels dim and calm rather than shut off. It is often called a room-darkening or semi-blackout blind.

What dim-out does and does not do
Dim-out fabric stops you seeing in or out, day or night, and cuts most of the light. On a bright afternoon, the blind glows softly and the room is dim enough to nap or watch a screen. It does not make a room dark enough for someone who needs total darkness to sleep, and like any roller blind, it leaves small gaps at the edges.
For a bedroom with strong morning sun, blackout is usually the safer choice. For a study, guest room, living room or a bedroom where you like waking to a little daylight, dim-out often feels better.

How it behaves in Singapore
Dim-out roller fabrics are usually woven polyester, sometimes with a light backing. They resist moisture and mould well, which suits rooms with aircon running for long periods. Because the fabric is not coated like blackout, it tends to feel softer and look more like a textile.
On west-facing windows, a light-coloured dim-out fabric reflects some heat and keeps the room cooler than leaving the glass bare. Darker colours look smart but warm up in direct sun.

Measuring, price and installation
Roller blinds are $5 to $6.50 per sq ft, installed, with a 20 sq ft minimum per blind. A home measuring visit with samples has a $50 deposit, credited to your order, and we price match written quotes for the same specification.
We measure the recess and the frame and advise whether an inside or face fit suits your window. For privacy in a bathroom or ground-floor room, a face fit with an overlap cuts side gaps.

Care
Dust regularly with a soft brush. Wipe marks with a damp cloth and mild soap, then let the blind dry fully before rolling it up. In kitchens, wipe more often so cooking grease does not settle.

Compared with nearby options
Blackout rollers block more light but feel more closed in. Sunscreen rollers keep the view but give little night privacy. Dim-out curtains give a similar light level with softer folds, and suit wide living room windows better than one very large blind.

Common questions
What is the difference between dim-out and blackout roller blinds?
Dim-out darkens the room and gives full privacy, but lets a soft glow through. Blackout has a coated fabric that stops light passing through.
Are dim-out blinds good for bedrooms?
Yes, for people who do not need total darkness. For bright morning sun or day sleepers, blackout is safer.
Do dim-out roller blinds give privacy at night?
Yes. The fabric is opaque, so people cannot see in with the lights on.
How much do dim-out roller blinds cost?
Our roller blinds are $5 to $6.50 per sq ft installed, with a 20 sq ft minimum per blind.
