Double roller blinds in Singapore
A double roller blind, also called a dual roller or day and night roller, puts two roller blinds on one shared bracket. Usually the front blind is a sunscreen fabric for daytime glare and the back blind is blackout or dim-out for privacy and sleep. Each blind moves on its own, so you choose the layer for the time of day.

How a double roller works
Both rolls sit on a single bracket system, one in front of the other, each with its own chain or motor. In the morning, you lower the sunscreen to cut glare and keep the view. At night, you lower the blackout or dim-out for privacy. On a cloudy day, both stay up.
Because the two blinds share one fixing, a double roller looks tidier than two separate blinds and takes far less space than two layers of curtain. A cassette or pelmet can hide both rolls for a cleaner top line.

Double roller or Korean combi
A Korean combi blind, also called a zebra blind, is one blind with alternating sheer and solid stripes. You shift the stripes to let light in or close them for privacy. It is compact and quick to adjust, but even when closed, it does not darken a room as well as a true blackout blind.
A double roller uses two full fabrics, so you get a proper sunscreen view in the day and a solid dim-out or blackout at night. It needs more fitting depth than a combi and costs more than a single roller.

Singapore conditions
Both fabrics are usually polyester or fibreglass based, so they cope with humidity and resist mould. A double roller suits west-facing bedrooms well: sunscreen in the afternoon to cut heat while you work or read, blackout in the evening and through the morning. On a low floor or a unit facing another block, it gives day and night privacy without heavy curtains.

Options to choose
Measuring and installation
A double roller needs more depth than a single blind. Inside a shallow HDB window recess, there may not be room for both rolls and the window handles, so we often fix it on the wall or ceiling above the frame. We check depth, handle clearance and window swing at the home visit.
Double roller blinds are quoted after measuring, because the price depends on the two fabrics, the size and the controls. A home measuring visit with samples has a $50 deposit, credited to your order, and we price match written quotes for the same specification.

Care
Dust both blinds with a soft brush. Wipe marks with a damp cloth and mild soap, and let the fabric dry before rolling up. Do not soak a blackout fabric.

Common questions
What is a double roller blind?
Two roller blinds on one bracket, usually a sunscreen in front and a blackout or dim-out behind, each moving independently.
Is a double roller better than a Korean combi blind?
A double roller darkens better and gives a clearer daytime view. A combi blind is more compact and quicker to adjust.
Will a double roller fit inside my window recess?
It needs more depth than a single blind. In many HDB windows we fix it on the wall or ceiling instead.
How much do double roller blinds cost?
They are quoted after measuring, since price depends on both fabrics, the size and the controls.
