Motorised roller blinds in Singapore

Motorised roller blinds raise and lower with a remote, a wall switch, a phone app or a timer. The motor sits inside the roller tube, so the blind looks the same as a manual roller but without a chain hanging at the side. They suit tall condo glazing, windows behind beds, sofas or kitchen counters, and homes that want blinds to move on a schedule.

How a motorised roller works

A tubular motor turns the roll. You set upper and lower limits once, so the blind stops at the same place every time, and most motors remember a favourite middle position. Several blinds can be grouped, so one button lowers every blind on the sunny side of the flat.

Controls usually include a handheld remote, a wall switch, a phone app and timers. With a compatible home hub, many motors also work with voice assistants and scenes.

Battery or mains power

Rechargeable battery motors need no wiring, which makes them simple to add in an existing HDB flat or condo. They are charged with a cable every few months, depending on use and blind size. Mains motors need a power point near the top of the window and are best planned during renovation, before the false ceiling or pelmet goes in. We check the options at the home visit.

Fabrics

Any roller fabric can be motorised: sunscreen for glare and view, dim-out for privacy with a soft glow, and blackout for sleep. Double rollers can have a motor on one or both rolls. Fabrics are usually polyester or fibreglass based, which handles humidity and resists mould.

Price and installation

Roller blinds are $5 to $6.50 per sq ft, installed, with a 20 sq ft minimum per blind. A blind motor adds $150 to $250 per blind, depending on the motor and controls. A home measuring visit with samples has a $50 deposit, credited to your order, and we price match written quotes for the same specification.

We measure each window, check where power or charging access will be, and advise on fitting inside the recess or on the ceiling. For a row of tall windows, we set the blinds so the hems line up when they are lowered together.

Care

Dust the fabric with a soft brush and wipe marks with a damp cloth. Keep the battery charged before it runs flat, and keep the remote away from humid bathrooms where possible.

Motorised rollers or motorised curtains

Motorised rollers cost less per window, sit flat and suit smaller windows, kitchens and studies. Motorised curtains suit wide living room windows and full-height glazing, where soft folds look better than one very large blind.

Common questions

How much do motorised roller blinds cost?

Roller blinds are $5 to $6.50 per sq ft installed, 20 sq ft minimum per blind, plus $150 to $250 per blind for the motor.

Do I need wiring for motorised blinds?

Not with a rechargeable battery motor. Mains motors need a power point near the window.

How long does a blind motor battery last?

Usually a few months between charges, depending on how often the blind moves and its size.

Can I control several blinds at once?

Yes. Blinds can be grouped on one remote channel, app scene or timer.
