Voile curtains in Singapore
Voile is a fine, lightweight sheer woven from thin yarns, usually polyester. It softens daylight, takes the edge off glare and gives you daytime privacy while the room still feels open. It is the most common sheer we measure and install in HDB flats and condos.

How voile behaves in a Singapore home
Polyester voile copes well with humidity. It does not absorb much moisture, dries quickly after a wash and keeps its size, which matters for a full-length curtain that should just clear the floor. Because it is thin, air moves through it, so the folds rarely stay damp long enough for mould to settle.
On a west-facing window, voile cuts the harsh late-afternoon glare to a soft white light, but it does not stop much heat. If the room bakes after 3pm, add a lined curtain or a sunscreen roller blind behind it. Strong sun can also yellow a bright white voile over time, so an off-white or ivory tone tends to stay looking fresh for longer.
Privacy works one way. In the day, people outside see a pale screen. At night with the lights on, they can see shapes through it, which is why the second layer matters in bedrooms and ground-floor units.

Options to choose
Rooms it suits
Voile is at home in living and dining rooms, where you want daylight most of the day and a softer view of the block opposite. In bedrooms it works as the day layer in a day and night set. It is less suited to a bathroom or a cooking area, where a moisture-resistant blind is easier to keep clean.

Measuring and installation notes
We measure at a home visit and bring samples, so you can hold the voile against your own window light. Voile is made to measure with generous fullness, usually around twice the track width for a ripple fold, so it looks full when closed rather than stretched. For a double track, the voile normally sits on the inner track nearest the window.
Pricing is by metre of track width, from $45 to $60 installed for sheer fabrics. A home measuring visit has a $50 deposit, credited to your order.

Care
Most polyester voiles can be taken down, unhooked and machine washed cold on a gentle cycle, then rehung slightly damp so the folds drop straight. Vacuum the hem lightly every few weeks if you live near a busy road, since sheers show dust and traffic grime.

Common questions
Can people see through voile curtains at night?
Yes, with lights on inside, shapes show through. Pair the voile with a dim-out or blackout curtain on a second track for night privacy.
How much do voile curtains cost in Singapore?
Our installed price for sheer fabrics is $45 to $60 per metre of track width. The exact figure depends on the fabric and heading chosen at the home visit.
Do voile curtains block heat?
Only a little. Voile cuts glare well, but a lined curtain or a sunscreen roller blind does more for heat on a west-facing window.
Can I machine wash voile curtains?
Most polyester voiles can be washed cold on a gentle cycle and rehung damp. Check the care label for your fabric first.
