Textured curtains in Singapore
Textured curtains add depth to a room without a loud print. The interest comes from the weave itself: a raised pattern, looped yarns or uneven threads that catch the light. They suit Japandi, modern luxe and warm minimalist interiors, where plain walls and furniture need something soft to balance them.

The main textured weaves
How texture copes with Singapore conditions
Most textured curtain fabrics are polyester or polyester blends, which keep their size in humidity and resist fading better than natural fibres. Heavier weaves like boucle hold more moisture in their surface, so give them airflow: open the curtains fully each day and avoid letting them rest against a cold aircon wall or a wet window ledge.
Texture hides small marks and creases well, which is useful in a busy home. On a west-facing window, a lining protects the face fabric from fading and adds light control. Jacquard and slub weaves can take a dim-out or blackout lining, which turns them into a bedroom curtain.

Headings and colours
Ripple fold shows texture in an even wave and suits slub and fine jacquard. Pinch pleat suits heavier weaves and gives a tailored finish. Very thick boucle is easier to stack on a ripple fold or pinch pleat track than on a rod.
Textured fabrics look best in mid tones: sand, oat, stone, mushroom, sage and soft grey. Very dark textured fabric absorbs heat in strong sun, so line it if it faces west.

Measuring, price and installation
Textured curtains are quoted by fabric, because weight, width and pattern repeat differ from one weave to the next. As a guide, our installed rates for plain dim-out curtains are $60 to $80 per metre of track width, and blackout $75 to $100, so you can compare a textured quote against those. Heavier fabrics may need a stronger track, which we check at the home visit. The visit has a $50 deposit, credited to your order, and we price match written quotes for the same specification.

Care
Vacuum textured curtains with a soft brush every few weeks, since raised weaves trap dust. Lined and boucle curtains are usually best cleaned professionally. Unlined jacquard and slub polyester can often be washed cold on a gentle cycle; check the label first.

Compared with nearby options
Velvet gives a richer, denser surface than most textured weaves but shows marks and is heavier. Plain polyester is easier to clean and cheaper, but flatter. Linen-look slub sits between the two: relaxed texture, easy care.

Common questions
What is the difference between jacquard and boucle curtains?
Jacquard has a pattern woven into a smooth cloth. Boucle uses looped yarns for a nubby, soft surface. Jacquard is usually easier to keep clean.
Are textured curtains good for Singapore?
Yes, if they are polyester or a blend and the room has airflow. Very heavy weaves need opening daily so the folds dry.
How much do textured curtains cost?
They are quoted by fabric after the home visit, since weaves vary in weight and width. We can compare the quote against our plain dim-out and blackout rates.
Can textured curtains be blackout?
Most jacquard and slub weaves can take a blackout lining, which also protects the fabric from sun.
