How blinds are measured and priced

Blinds are priced on their area: width times height, in square feet. Small blinds still need a full mechanism and fitting, so each blind is counted as at least 20 sq ft. Splitting a wide window into several blinds can raise the charged area if each one falls under the minimum, which the calculator shows.

Common questions

How are blinds priced in Singapore?

Most shops price blinds per square foot of width times height, with a minimum charge per blind. We count each blind as at least 20 sq ft.

How do I convert cm to square feet?

Multiply the width by the height in centimetres, then divide by 929. A 120cm by 150cm window is 18,000 square centimetres, or about 19.4 sq ft.

Should I measure inside or outside the window recess?

Inside the recess if the blind should sit flush in the frame; outside if it should cover the frame and overlap the wall. Measure the width at the top, middle and bottom and use the narrowest for an inside fit.

When should a wide window be split into two blinds?

Very wide windows are often split into two or three blinds so each one is lighter to raise and easier to operate. We advise on the split at the measuring visit.
