Curtains and blinds for landlords and rental units
When you rent out an HDB flat or a condo unit, the curtains go through more than they would in your own home. Tenants change every year or two, windows stay shut while the aircon runs, and a curtain that looked fine at handover can come back dusty, stained or spotted with mould. Curtains SG supplies hard-wearing curtains and blinds for rental units, cleans them at the end of a tenancy and replaces pieces between tenants.

Polyester and poly blendsPolyester resists creasing and shrinking, dries quickly and copes with repeated washing. A linen-look polyester gives a natural texture without the creasing of pure linen.Learn more →
Dim-out over coated blackoutCoated blackout backings can crack or peel after many washes. A dense dim-out fabric gives good privacy, suits most tenants, and cleans more easily.
Neutral coloursWhite, ivory, light grey and beige suit any tenant's furniture and look clean in listing photos. Mid-grey hides everyday marks better than pure white.Learn more →
Avoid delicate trimsTassels, tiebacks and embellished headings get lost or damaged. A plain S-fold or pinch pleat curtain on a track is simpler to maintain.Blinds that tenants are less likely to damage

Blinds over curtains in small roomsIn a small rented bedroom, a blind stays off the bed and desk and is less likely to be pulled, snagged or used to dry clothes.HDB and condo rental units
An HDB flat let out room by room needs privacy in each bedroom, since tenants may not know each other. A blackout or dim-out roller blind in each room, plus curtains in the shared living area, is simple to manage. In a condo unit let as a whole, tenants expect the living room to look finished, so S-fold sheers and a dim-out curtain on the existing curtain box track usually suit.
Before a new tenant moves in, run every curtain and blind once to check the tracks glide, the chains work and nothing is missing. A loose bracket or a stiff track is easy to fix during a vacancy and harder to arrange once someone is living there. Note the condition in the inventory list with photos, so wear at the end of the tenancy is easier to assess. Leave a short note for tenants on how to wash or wipe each item.

End-of-tenancy curtain cleaning
Many tenancy agreements ask the tenant to clean curtains when they move out. Whoever arranges it, curtains are best cleaned between move-out and the next viewing, so the unit looks fresh for photos. We clean curtains on site, or take them away and rehang them after cleaning. Blinds can be cleaned on site as well.
Check the curtains for mould spots near the hem and against the glass, which are common in units left with windows shut. Light spots often come out with cleaning. Heavy mould in a lining may mean the curtain is due for replacement. Between tenants, leave a window open or run a dehumidifier during long vacancies, since a closed, empty unit is where mould grows fastest on fabric.

Replacing curtains and blinds between tenants
You do not always need to replace every curtain and blind in the unit. If one blind is broken or one curtain is stained beyond cleaning, we can replace that piece in a matching neutral fabric so it does not stand out. Send photos and rough sizes on WhatsApp, and tell us who will let us in, whether that is you, your agent or the outgoing tenant.
If you are furnishing a new rental unit, we can measure every window in one visit and suggest a simple, consistent set of curtains and blinds that is easy to clean and replace later.

Common questions
What curtain fabric is best for a rental unit?
A polyester or poly blend in a neutral colour. It washes well, resists creasing and suits most tenants' furniture. Avoid pure linen and delicate trims.
Can you clean curtains at the end of a tenancy?
Yes. We clean curtains on site, or take them away and rehang them after cleaning. Arrange it between move-out and the next viewing so the unit is ready.
Can I replace just one damaged blind?
Yes. We measure and replace the single blind in a matching or similar fabric. Neutral colours make a single replacement easier to match.
Do you need me to be there for the visit?
No, as long as someone can let us in. Your agent or tenant can give access, and we can send photos or notes to you afterwards.
Are blinds or curtains better for a rental?
Blinds suit kitchens, toilets and small bedrooms because they have fewer parts to damage. Curtains on a track suit living rooms and larger bedrooms. Many landlords use both.
