Why skylights need a different blind
A normal blind hangs straight down under gravity. On a horizontal or sloped skylight the fabric has to be held flat by side guides or tension cords, or it sags. Skylight blinds are built with guides on both sides and a tensioned bottom rail, so they stay in place at any angle and can stop partway.
Choosing the fabric
Sunscreen or translucent fabrics cut glare and some heat while keeping the room bright, which suits living areas and atriums. Dim-out or blackout fabrics suit bedrooms under a roof window or rooms used for screens. Light, reflective colours facing the glass reflect more sun back out and keep the room cooler.
