Balcony blinds in Singapore
Balcony blinds let you use the balcony during afternoon sun and sudden rain, and give some privacy from the block opposite. Outdoor zip blinds are fitted on the balcony itself, while curtains or blinds on the sliding door work from inside. We measure and fit both for condo and HDB balconies, subject to your building's rules.
Get a quoteOutdoor blinds face sun, rain and wind
A balcony blind sits outside in conditions no indoor fabric sees. It takes full afternoon sun, driving rain during the monsoon months and gusts at height. Standard indoor roller blinds flap, fade and grow mould out there.
Outdoor zip blinds run the fabric edges inside side channels, so the blind stays in its tracks in wind and closes the gaps at the sides. The fabric is usually a PVC or mesh made for outdoor use. Mesh lets air through and keeps some view, while a solid PVC keeps out more rain.

Check MCST and HDB rules first
Many condos have by-laws on how balconies look from outside, and some restrict or specify outdoor blinds, including the colour and frame finish. HDB flats may have their own guidelines for anything fixed outside. Rules differ by development, so ask your management office or town council before ordering, and send us any written guidelines so we can match them.

A west-facing balcony is hard to use from mid-afternoon until sunset, and the heat on the floor tiles reaches the living room through the glass. Lowering an outdoor blind before the sun reaches the balcony stops some of that sun before it hits the door. Use the sun glare checker with your block's orientation to see which hours matter for your unit.
An outdoor blind needs a solid fixing point on the balcony ceiling or walls. We check the structure, any drainage at the floor edge and whether a power point is nearby for a motor.

Do I need approval for balcony blinds in a condo?
Often, yes. Many MCSTs set rules on outdoor blinds, colours and frames. Check with your management office before ordering.
Are outdoor zip blinds waterproof?
Solid PVC versions keep out most rain. Mesh fabrics let some water and air through. Neither is sealed, so heavy wind-driven rain can still get in at the edges.
Can I use indoor roller blinds on a balcony?
They are not made for sun, rain and wind outdoors and tend to fade, flap and grow mould. Choose an outdoor blind instead.
Can balcony blinds be motorised?
Yes, if there is a power point nearby. Motorised zip blinds suit wide or high openings that are hard to raise by hand.
