Laundry racks in Singapore
A laundry rack gives you a fixed place to dry clothes indoors or in the service yard. In Singapore, where sudden rain, humidity and limited floor space all work against a folding floor rack, a ceiling or wall-mounted system keeps laundry off the floor and out of the way.

Why Singapore homes need a proper rack
Many HDB flats dry clothes on bamboo poles pushed out of the kitchen or service yard window. That uses the outdoor air but means rushing to pull poles in when it rains. Condos often do not allow laundry hung outside at all. A ceiling rack in the yard or balcony lets you dry indoors with airflow, and clothes can stay out when the weather turns.
Clothes left damp in our humidity start to smell, so a rack placed where air moves, near a window or fan, dries them faster.

Types of laundry rack
Weight and fixing
Every rack has a rated load set by its maker. Check the rated load before you hang wet towels, bedsheets or a full family wash, since wet laundry is much heavier than dry. The ceiling or wall must also take the weight, so we check what the rack will be fixed into at the measuring visit. Spread heavy items across the poles rather than loading one end.

HDB and condo notes
Bamboo pole holders outside the window are common in HDB flats, but check with HDB or your MCST before installing anything that projects outside. Condos usually need MCST approval for external fittings and many ask that laundry stays out of sight, which makes a ceiling rack in the yard the usual answer.

Measuring and installation notes
Send photos of the yard, balcony or window with the ceiling height and the width available, and point out any pipes, lights or windows that open into the space. We quote from your photos and sizes, then confirm at a measuring visit. Racks are fixed into the concrete ceiling or wall. For motorised racks, the power point should be in place before installation.

Care and how to choose
Wipe poles regularly so dust and rust spots do not mark clothes, and keep pulleys and winders clean. Choose a ceiling rack for a service yard with good height, a retractable rack for a narrow space, and a motorised rack if lifting is hard for anyone at home. If the yard window also needs shade or rain cover, an outdoor blind can sit alongside the rack.

Common questions
How much weight can a laundry rack hold?
Each rack has its own rated load. Check the rated load for the model you choose, and remember wet laundry is heavier than dry.
Can I install a ceiling laundry rack in an HDB service yard?
Yes, it is a common use. The rack fixes into the concrete ceiling, which we check at the measuring visit.
Do condos allow laundry racks?
Indoor and yard racks are usually fine. Anything fitted outside usually needs MCST approval, so check with your MCST first.
How much does a laundry rack cost in Singapore?
It depends on the type, size and whether it is motorised. We quote from photos and sizes, then confirm at a measuring visit.
